Background:

Kylee Roger Hull's name was the result of two stubborn people who could only agree on one single boy and girl name, so her "boy" name became her middle name.In the quaint suburban haven of Arrows, Ohio, Kylee Roger Hull came into the world, welcomed by parents who yearned for the quintessential nuclear family: a cozy house adorned with a white picket fence, the laughter of 2.5 children echoing through the halls, and a pure-bred dog to complete the idyllic home. Kylee shared her childhood with her mother, father, a little brother, (Roger Kylee -- Yes, really) and a beloved golden retriever, Stripe. When asked about said childhood, she has one concise answer:"It was fine."It was not fine. Her parents were strict with her, favoring her brother and his more outgoing personality and athletic prowess over Kylee's love for writing and photography. While there was no physical abuse, she suffered a ton of emotional neglect. She hardly felt like a person, and anything her parents gave her was hung over her head. The only thing keeping sane was her friends at school.Charles Xavier did reach out to her, as he had with many before and after her, but Kylee politely turned him down. She was almost done with her senior year of high school and did not want to upheave her life -- and she especially did not want her anti-mutant/FoH supporter parents to know. She did, however, visit Xavier's School frequently in the following years when she was accepted into ESU.Kylee kept her mutation to herself, considering herself "one of the lucky ones" (even though she thought her powers were gross) because she could easily hide her abilities -- something at she had to be very careful about.Through college, Kylee played her part as the quiet, unassuming daughter while her parents helped pay for her education. The moment she graduated college, however, she went no contact with them. Unable to reconcile the fact that her parents would disown her anyway for being a mutant, she chose to remove herself on her terms. She still keeps in contact with her brother, however, as he was innocent in their treatment of her. To this day, they still have no idea that she is a mutant. After she finished her degree in journalism, she got a job at the Daily Bugle, where her covert mutation could be used to eavesdrop on the latest scoop. Her methods were not very scrupulous, and she had herself convinced that she would only 'bug' people who deserved it.This worked for a few years until she reported sensitive information on a high-end lawyer that ended in him trying to sue the Daily Bugle for slander. Though he was unsuccessful, Kylee was let go from her journalism job and blacklisted from the community. She now works as a technical writer for a manufacturing company, copy-pasting the same boilerplate information for each new client.Powers:
Kylee had been considered a 'late bloomer" when it came to leaving adolescence and entering adulthood, and her mutation was no exception. At the age of seventeen, approximately one week after her first period, her belated puberty gave her another surprise when a cockroach crawled its way out of her mouth while she was in the middle of attempting to overhear circulating gossip about a close friend of hers in order to sus out the source of the rumor. Understandably, she screamed with fear and squashed the bug...then screamed in pain as it vanished into dust, giving away her hidden location behind the bleachers -- ruining both her day and her spying attempts.
After spending her entire senior year secretly experimenting with her powers in between exams and prom, Kylee discovered a few things:
1. The bugs formed in the back of her mouth, near the uvula, and she could summon any form of bug that she could think of when she concentrated hard enough.
2. She could summon multiple bugs at a time, but the more she created, the more sluggish and light-headed she became.
3. She could not control the bugs like a puppeteer, but she could direct them with instructions.
4. The bugs were a part of her: they appeared to be fragments of herself. If they were 'killed' she would be inflicted with a sharp stinging sensation in her chest. (She eventually learned through Xavier that these bugs were a physical manifestation of her soul, and while that part of her soul wasn't destroyed when crushed, it does take time for her metaphysical being to fully heal -- often causing mental/physical distress.)
4. When they were "killed" or returned to her, she could remember everything that they saw and heard.

Personality:

Kylee is usually stoic in her delivery, whether it be sadness, anger, or happiness. Even her humor is done in a deadpan delivery. She has an amazing poker face.An amazing poker face that hides someone with high anxiety and depression. She has spent years honing her skills to mask her inner conflicts. She does not hang around telepaths often, because she can't stand the idea of someone being in her head and knowing her real feelings. When she makes friends, however, she tends to make deep connections. She enjoys intellectual conversation, and tends to gravitate towards those with high intelligence or a passion for their field/hobby. She does have strong loyalties for people who call her a friend.Despite constantly using her powers to covertly spy on others, she rarely gossips about her findings. Usually, it's because she has enough of a moral compass to not go spilling secrets, but other times it's because it makes very good blackmail. However, she will report her findings when it threatens the lives of others...or if the price of the negotiation is right.
